Mary Waters-Sayer has a B.A. in English from Binghamton University and later studied writing at Stanford University’s Continuing Education program. She worked in investor and public relations for ten years. A native of New York, she has also lived in California and spent weld years as an expatriate in London. The Blue Bath is her first novel.

Set in London and Paris, The Blue Bath is the story of a woman whose past comes to haunt her when she discovers she is the subject of a famous artist’s painting. Kat Lind, an American expatriate returning to London following the death of her mother, attends an opening at a prestigious Mayfair art gallery and is astonished to find her own face on the walls. She discovers that the artist, Daniel Blake, has continued to paint her throughout the twenty years since their affair. In her grief and with her husband and young son away, Kat is seduced by her erstwhile reflection and is drawn back into the sins and solace of her past.

Moving between the rarified London art world and the nascent days of a love affair in a dusty Paris studio, life and art bleed together as Daniel and Kat’s lives spin out of control, leading to a conclusion that is anything but inevitable.
